Al Balad, Jeddah in Canvas: Saudi Art for Your Walls

For centuries, every pilgrim bound for Makkah passed through Jeddah, and the heart of that city was Al Balad. Its coral-stone tower houses, wrapped in carved wooden latticework, still stand in the historic core, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Few places in Saudi Arabia hold as much layered, human history.

At Safaya we translate Al Balad into fine-art canvas, capturing the district's warmth and craft for modern Saudi homes and workspaces.

Abstract Art: Al Balad V1 – Flow Edition

The old heart of Jeddah

Historic Jeddah was inscribed by UNESCO in 2014 as the gateway to Makkah, a Red Sea port that grew rich on pilgrimage and trade. Its signature buildings are tall houses of coral stone quarried from the sea, fronted by roshan, the intricately carved wooden bay windows and screens that let air and light through while keeping the interior cool and private. Houses like Naseef House and the lanes of Souq Al Alawi have carried merchants, pilgrims and families for generations.

The effect is a townscape of soft stone and warm timber, geometry everywhere, from the lattice of a single screen to the stacked facades of a whole street.

How Safaya reimagines it

Al Balad is made for pattern and light. Our Abstract pieces read the facades as a rhythm of windows and shadow, while our Impressionism treatments catch the golden hour glow on coral stone. We keep the true palette of the district, sand and cream stone, deep timber browns, the blue edge of the Red Sea, so the work stays honest to the place.

Why it works on a wall

The dense geometry of Al Balad makes for art that rewards a second look, which is exactly what you want in a space where people linger: a living room, a hotel lobby, a waiting area. For Jeddah homes and businesses it carries obvious local pride, and for anyone furnishing across the Kingdom it brings warmth and craft that generic prints cannot. It is a frequent choice for offices and hospitality interiors looking to root a space in Saudi heritage.

Editions, sizes and framing

Each Al Balad piece is museum-grade canvas in Flow, Legacy and Crown editions, from smaller works for a hallway to large-format statements. Choose a floater frame in white, black, walnut, metallic or gold, or leave it frameless, with delivery across Saudi Arabia.
