Taif Mountains in Canvas: Saudi Art for Your Walls
Climb the escarpment above Makkah and the air changes. Taif sits high in the Sarawat mountains, cool where the coast is hot, green where the desert is bare. For generations it has been the Kingdom's summer retreat, famous for its terraced farms and, above all, its roses.
At Safaya we reimagine the Taif mountains as fine-art canvas, bringing that rare high-country light into Saudi homes and offices.
Mountains, terraces and roses
Taif rises to roughly nineteen hundred metres in the Hijaz range, high enough for a mild climate that has made it a retreat for centuries. Its slopes are cut into stone terraces growing pomegranates, grapes and figs, and its damask roses are distilled into the prized Taif rose water and attar celebrated each spring at the rose festival. The dramatic Al Hada road switchbacks up the escarpment, opening onto views that fall away for miles.
How Safaya reimagines it
Taif offers an artist something unusual in Arabia: height, mist and green. Our Abstract pieces build the layered ridgelines into receding planes of blue and grey, while other treatments catch the soft haze that settles between the peaks. Where the roses appear, the palette warms with the deep pinks the region is known for. As always, the colours stay true to the place.
Why it works on a wall
Mountain art brings depth and cool calm to an interior, a welcome contrast in a country better known for desert and coast. Taif pieces suit a study, a bedroom or a boardroom that wants a sense of distance and quiet, and their soft palette pairs easily with both warm and neutral rooms. They are a considered choice for offices and hospitality spaces looking for a Saudi landscape that feels serene rather than stark.
Choosing the right size
Scale decides whether a piece looks specified or accidental, and it is where most choices go wrong. Safaya canvases run in two proportion families.
The standard family runs 30x45, 40x60, 60x90, 80x120 and 100x150 cm. Smaller sizes suit a bedroom, a study or a treatment room; 80x120 and 100x150 are the sizes that hold a living room or a meeting room wall.
The panoramic family runs 48x27, 64x36, 96x54, 128x72 and 192x108 cm. At nearly two metres wide, 192x108 is a genuine statement piece, and the wide proportion is made for the long wall above a sofa, a bed, a reception desk or a banquette run, where a tall canvas would look stranded.
A reliable rule: the piece should occupy about two thirds of the width of the wall or the furniture beneath it, hung with its centre at eye level. Where one canvas cannot cover that span, two or three at even spacing will, and a composed set often reads better up close than a single oversized image.
Taif in a commercial space
Taif's cool palette makes it one of the easiest Saudi subjects to place in a working interior. The layered blues and greys recede rather than advance, so a large piece can sit behind a desk or a meeting table without dominating the room or fighting the branding around it.
It suits spaces that want distance and quiet: a boardroom, a focus room, a hotel suite, a consultation room, a lounge. In a mixed scheme, Taif works well as the calm counterweight to a bolder landmark piece in reception, and the soft palette pairs comfortably with both warm timber and cool neutral interiors.
Because the range spans several styles, a property can hold one subject across many rooms while varying treatment and scale, which is an efficient way to make a repeated floor feel considered rather than duplicated. For projects we offer trade pricing on multi-piece orders, with framing included and delivery and installation across Saudi Arabia. The detail is on our offices and trade page.
Share the rooms, the wall dimensions and your budget and we will propose a scheme zone by zone.
